Torquato Tasso

Address: Defensa 1575 – San Telmo

This is a typically porteño place found in San Telmo, opposite Parque Lezama, with a “Filete” (typical painting) in the front that encourages contact with tango at its best. It calls itself THE “milonga porteña”, consisting of a traditional place where “genuine” tango artists perform, and milonga and tango lessons are offered.
The show involves the best musicians and singers in the genre in a café-concert outline, where dinner is available, as well as a variety of drinks or wine. It is on stage every day and, when it is over, the milonga starts and goes on until dawn.
However, the most popular day for this milonga is Sunday at 10 pm, where an informal atmosphere is created by the convergence of experts and novices, old and young.
The lessons offered cater for all levels of learning, or improvement for advanced dancers. It is recommended to consult about the schedule, as there are different daily offers.

La Trastienda

Address: Balcarce 460 – San Telmo

This is a traditional bar and pub of Buenos Aires in which you can have good drinks and some light food dishes while watching the best shows in the city in a warm, comfortable and stylish place. Its atmosphere is intimate with lights that highlight the walls in soft tones and the decoration’s style is retro.
It has a premium area that is decorated as a design living room.
It opens from Monday to Friday from 12 to 00 hours and on weekends it remains open until 1.30am since it is when the disco opens. The happy hour is from 5pm to 8pm.

Bar Sur

It is one of the pioneers of the café-concert trend in the city. Since its foundation in 1967, it has devoted to tango, proposing a genuine show that integrates all its styles. Music, singing, 2×4 dancing and art converge in this night show that adds excellent gastronomic service. The show has been thought to portray a real image of our culture through tango, far from the “for export” proposal, and much closer to the guests’ expectations. It consists of a participative proposal, allowing guests to pick titles, sing along and dance with the performers. It is also possible to buy art objects, paints, pictures and fashion articles.
The price varies, being the service a la carte. It has always functioned in the ground floor of a building that dates back to 1910, with the peculiarity of an intimate ambience and tango decoration, also displaying works of the artist Máximo Paz.

Clásica y Moderna Café Concert

According to the time of day, it offers varied alternatives, like enjoying a good coffee, a quick lunch, or tea, while devoting some time to either leafing through or buying some of the books on display.
At night it becomes one of those porteño resorts that offer good solos, or musical shows of different genres, mainly jazz and tango.

Niceto

Address: Cnel. Niceto Vega 5510 – Palermo

People who go to this place very often, state that they love its New York style decoration and ambience and the special feature of having high roofs, since they provide a sense of freedom and it also grants the possibility of organizing all kinds of events.
Niceto is very roomy and it allows for various events; it has a stage where bands play and fashion shows and other kinds of events take place. It has two bars, balconies and a location away from downtown of a very easy access.
It opens on Thursdays, fridays, and saturday nights; the restaurant opens earlier than the disco and you can choose either both or one of the options.

Sunset Buenos Aires

Address: Roque Saenz Peña 440 – Olivos

This is a very interesting proposal to go dancing and to spend a long and fun night in the northern part of Gran Buenos Aires. It opens at 10pm in order to serve dinner first and later the music.
The orange and green colors mix with the metal structures and the giant screens. It has two dance-floors in which you can listen to all music styles. Besides it has two indoor bars, VIP rooms and a stage. On the patio outdoors there are two more bars, and additional dance floor and a pool in the middle of a large park, from where you can get an exceptional view.
On Fridays there are usually events involving local celebrities and on Saturdays there are live bands and showmen, magicians, etc.
It usually remains open until the break of day.

Pinkalola

Address: Costa Rica 5886 – Palermo

Pinkalola is a bar in the neighborhood of Palermo that offers gourmet sandwiches in a modern setting in pink tones. On Thursdays, a DJ plays live music, and on Saturdays there are jazz and pop bands performances. Sandwiches are classified as de la estancia (from the ranch), del mar (from the sea), de la granja (from the farm) or de la huerta (from the vegetable garden), depending on whether the main ingredient is meat, fish, chicken, or vegetables. All sandwiches are served with baked potatoes and fresh herbs. The salad menu is really varied. Excellent service.

Mitos Argentinos

This place located in San Telmo is a night pub in which rock and blues predominate.
You can have beer and pizza (you can have as may pizzas as you want for no extra charge), but it is essential to book in advance for said option or you may just go for a drink. The music styles that predominate are rock and blues, buy the usual trend is to invite bands of all styles, even melodic bands.
Apart from this night stage, Mitos has another stage that is far more important which is to foster the local traditions. There are folklore and tango classes during the afternoon and on Sundays there is a traditional lunch, with offal, asado (traditional barbecue) and local wines, etc. You can also enjoy tango and folklore shows of a very high level.

Locos por el Fútbol

Address: Vicente López 2056 – local 8 – Recoleta

This theme-bar hosts the fans of the most popular sport: football; which is the main theme of the bar but there is room for other sports in its giant screens as well.
This constitutes a different proposal filled with love towards the ball and fun. It is the ideal place to have fun with friends before going to dance, specially on Saturday nights, since a showman makes the evening fun.
The menu has names that allude to sports and also a full promotional menu with reasonable prices. It is also possible to go there only to have a drink.
Nowadays there is also a branch in Madrid and the vision of the shareholders is to expand the business without boundaries to mix it with the best places to go out in Buenos Aires.
