Confitería Ideal

Address: Suipacha 384 – San Nicolás

It was opened in 1912 and its bronze ovals keep still their brightness, with a heraldic representation of an iris on its façade, and its striking streetlights framing the entrance from side to side.
On the ground floor, there is a café of excellent service, offering a variety of teas in the afternoon, with sweets the sweet-toothed will not resist. Its walls are covered with an original Eslavonian oak boisserie, apart from authentic Thonet furniture, reason for pride.
This genuine style, representative of the porteño Belle Epoque, is the ideal place to recall the lifestyle of such times. This is why the place has been chosen by Alan Parker to shoot a scene of the film “Evita”, as well as by Carlos Saura for “Tango”.
One of the most popular milongas in the city, a classic among the classics, takes place on the first floor every night, and occasionally in the afternoon.
