Boca Tango

Address: Brandsen 923 – La Boca

This tango show has some peculiarities, and takes place in a real art complex.
An old warehouse, by the mythic Boca Juniors field, is the place that has been chosen for the reconstruction of a typical “conventillo” (tenement house), a country restaurant, and a café of past times, with stained glass windows and everything else implied in the recreation. At the end, there is an exhibition of quality handcrafts. As presented by its owners, Boca Tango is a theme experience.
Upon arrival, a welcome glass is served before being sat for dinner. The choice consists of three appetizers, main dishes and desserts; the drinks, included, are red and white wine, soft drinks, water, etc. The ambience is typical of the Argentine rural grill, with “asador”, a wooden bar and old signs and objects.
Dinner over, a one-act farce (“sainete”) develops in the reconstructed conventillo; during this play, spectators may walk around the rooms, the actors interacting with them from their rolls. This is a true play, with a plot, not just recreations.
Once this 20-minute play is over, guests are lead to the café in order to enjoy the tango show, with a remarkable performance of both the dancers and the orchestra (especially the bandoneón, or large accordion).
